Secretary and Garry Turvey CBE, FCIS, FCIT, previously the Director General of the Freight The Midland Hotel Transport Association, Garry has kindly agreed to Midland Road accept the position of President of the Conference. He served for many years on the Richard Storey CBI Council and its Transport Policy Committee, and (Vice Chairman R&RTHC) was a member of the Council of the Chartered Institute of Transport from 1987-1990. He was Steve Bagley awarded the CBE in 1991, and in 1992 won the (Museum British Road Motor Transport Special Award for ‘his outstanding Transport Coventry) contribution to the road transport industry.’ We welcome him to our ranks. It will be recalled that there was some discussion about the Andrew Johnson role of the President at our February 2001 meeting.
