-- 24 Etul 5767 On the web at: www.jvhri.org September 7, 2007 ADL reinstates Tarsy NEW YORK OTA) - The Anti-D efamation League has reinstated A ndrew Tarsy as its New England regional director. An ADL spokesman confi rmed Monday that Tarsy would be rehired, effective immediately. Tarsy was fired Aug. 17 after publicly breaking ranks with the organization for its refusal to recog nize the Armenian genocide. Abra ham Foxman, the ADL's national director, subsequently reversed him- self, iss uing a statement calling_ the Andrew Tars World War I massacres of Armenians y "tantamount to genocide." Tarsy's firing set off a mutiny in the New England region, one of the AD L's most active and influential. The regional board called on Foxman not only to rehire Tarsy, but to support a resolution in Congress that would recognize the genocide. Foxman continues to oppose the resolution.
