Chauma, Basai, Jahajgarh, Surat Nagar and Gwal Pahadi ponds in MCG to be started. 4 Major updates of the month under ‘Support A Pond’ 1. Kasan Site Visit - Sh. Amit Khatri (IAS), Deputy Commissioner, Gurugram and Mrs. Shubhi Kesarwani, Program Manager GuruJal has visited the WWTP at Kasan site. The purpose of the visit was to understand and review the work of pond restoration and rejuvenation on the site. The visit was accompanied by Mr. Satdev, Kasan Sarpanch. Groundwater Recharge Proposal for Tauru Block has been submitted to District Administration Nuh. Recharge through pond restoration and rejuvenation and rain water harvesting structures in Tauru has been suggested. 7. GuruJal has provided consultancy for the designing of WWTP at Sikandarpur site to ‘I AM GURGAON’. 8. Proposal for Retrofitting and Repairing of RWH - Functionality check analysis was done for 413 rainwater harvesting sites. Out of 413 rain water harvesting structures, 66 structures require retrofitting and 58 structures required repairing. Proposal for Retrofitting and Repairing of RWH Structures was submitted to MCG. 9. First draft of the Flood Management Action Plan has been submitted to MCG. Five sites will be identified in the MCG jurisdiction area for further proposal. Site visit to Mangar Bani for Research and Case Study - Mangar Bani is a sacred grove hill forest next to Mangar village on Delhi-Haryana border. It is an important biodiversity area within the Northern Aravalli. Mr. Sunil Harsana, Ecologist from Mangar village accompanied the team for guidance in identification and better understanding of the local species in the forest. The profound knowledge of Mr. Sunil helped the team in gathering important information about the process of development of Mangar Bani which will be very helpful in developing the Biodiversity Park at Damdama and Kherla village. 10 Image 3 – GuruJal Team visited Mangar Bani Forest Figure 4 – Check Dam at Mangar Bani Forest 11 2. Visit to Forest Nursery in Raipur, Sohna - Aim of the visit was to see how the nursery is operating, how they are cultivating their trees using resources effectively, and the kind of instruments they are using etc. Mr. Raseed Khan (Head of Nursery) guided about the nursery operation and some methods for cultivation of plants. Door to Door Dependency Survey - GuruJal team conducted door to door survey (90 households) in Damdama village to know the dependency of the villagers on the Pahad area where Biodiversity Park is to be constructed. Sampling was done in Aravalli hills of Damdama village to plot sample for vegetation assessment and identify the dominant species. Vegetation study using standard tree survey methods was done to assess the height and girth at breast height of individual stem of trees, and to identify the species. 13 Image 9 - Sampling Survey 5. Navjyoti India Foundation Meeting - Meeting with Navjyoti India Foundation (NIF) held on 20th Oct 2020 with an objective of collaborating with the organization for community engagement and for better understanding about roles and responsibilities.
