Ponkan Road Sidewalk Installation Thanks to the partnership with Orange County Public Schools, the City is installing this new Upcoming in Apopka sidewalk on Ponkan Road. This new sidewalk eliminates a hazardous walking condition for students heading to Wolf Lake Elementary and Middle from a new neighborhood nearby. The project funding was made possible through the City’s advertising contract with On Street Media. Arbor/Tree Removal: A permit must be obtained for residential arbor (tree) removal in the City limits. Permits are issued in an effort to protect the environment and ensure that only unhealthy, dead, hazardous, and problematic trees are removed. Contact Planning and Zoning for an application. Fees will be calculated by staff at the time of issuance. Fences: A permit must be issued by Planning and Zoning Division to install a residential fence within the City limits. The fence must be installed in accordance to the approved plans and Land Development Code. Residents will need to attach a copy of the property survey with the Application for Residential Fence Permit form. Garage Sales: A permit must be purchased prior to conducting a garage sale in the City limits. The cost is $1 per residence and payable by check or cash at City Hall. Sales are held no more than twice a year and no longer than three consecutive days. Please contact the City for a full list of regulations. Sheds: A permit is not needed in the City limits if the shed is under 120 square feet in size. While it might not require a permit, you still need to comply with zoning requirements, such as setbacks. Contact Planning and Zoning for standards and Building for the permitting process.
