REVOLVER Refill REVOLVER

1 REVOLVER refill REVOLVER Introduction A new monster in your pocket REVOLVER is an analogue synth refill, based on the sounds of DSI Evolver synthesizer. In other words, it can be viewed as a continuation of the Analogue Monsters series : REVOLVER provides vivid, dynamic and rich-sounding real analogue sounds, giving you a powerful new synth in your Reason rack. About Evolver DSI Evolver is an incredible synthesizer that incorporates many of Dave Smith and Sequential's old secrets, circuits and technologies. It uses a monstrous four oscillator voice architecture - two analogue DCOs and two digital - with two independent Curtis analog low-pass filters. The analogue oscillators feature multiple classic waveforms plus pulse-width modulation and hard sync, and they sound really nice and big. The digital oscillators feature FM synthesis, Ring Modulation and 96 wavetables. Modulation capabilities are handled by four LFOs and three ADSR envelope generators. The Evolver's analog-style sequencer brings itself to life with animated evolving sounds. All modulators can be synced for massive rhythmic sounds. 2 REVOLVER refill The analogue hack Evolver is a digital/analogue hybrid synth. It means the oscillators and filters are analogue, but the on-board effects (feedback, delay, distortion, hi-pass filter and mixer) are all digital. This concept is a very serviceable feature for performers, but a bit annoying for us – we don't need the digital effects, we want to use the original analogue sounds! The “analogue hack” is a way to achieve this: it taps the analogue signals before the onboard effects' AD converters and leads it out as two separated dual mono channels. (This hardware modification needs a skilled technician, so many thanks to the Absolute team!) The results are true analogue sounds, without the unnecessary extra AD/DA conversions. Thanks to the Combinators, we can use Reason's own effect arsenal in a much more flexible and complex way – and this is our big goal! :) 3 REVOLVER refill Specifications sample source: 1.63 GB multisample in 24 bit wav format. All samples are perfectly looped and contain the unity note info for quick and proper automapping. The sample source is also included as a multisample library. Dr.Rex loops - 79 melodic bass, arp & instrument sequence loops NN-19 bank - 300 NN-19 patches in 5 categories: • [All layers] (182) • Bass & Lead (35) • FX (24) • Key & PolySynth (35) • Pad & Atmosphere (24) NN-XT bank - 302 patches in 7 categories: • [All layers] (136) • Arp & Sequence (25) • Bass & Lead [poly] (27) • Experimental & FX (22) • Key & Polysynth (25) • Monosynth (36) • Pad & Atmosphere (31) Combinator bank: 112 combi patches in 6 categories. This bank demonstrates the routing possibilities of Combinator and will definitely give you a lot of inspirations: • Arp & Sequence (22) • Bass & Lead (20) • Experimental & FX (12) • Key & Synth (14) • KLP Sequence [RUN]* (30) • Pad & Atmosphere (14) * KLP = keyboard loop player is our loop based arpeggiator and sequence player for Reason. 4 REVOLVER refill Release notes Compatibility The use of Combinator bank requires REASON4. NN-19 and NN-XT banks will run with the previous versions (Reason 2.5 or higher) without any problem. Some additional notes Most of the patches are velocity sensitive and they have been designed to live performers , so a good remote compatible midi keyboard is higly recommended. In general, modwheel controls the filter modulations, aftertouch adds vibrato effect. Credits Andras Haasz: main concept, recording & editing, sound design Dr. Gabor Bardosi: consulting editor All samples were recorded and processed, all patches were created by PinkNoise Studio in 2009-2010. Special thanks to Adam Davidovics and to the absolute team! 5 REVOLVER refill 6 REVOLVER refill.
