Just so you are aware, you must have fifty percent plus 1 of the property owners (which is about 624 property owners) in good standing to approve any changes. You are most likely saying, so what is so difficult about that. Well the procedure goes like this: The Board must submit any proposed changes to the attorney for approval. Then these changes need to be typed and copied. Envelopes need to be addressed and stamped and then mailed certified/return receipt to all the property owners with the proposed changes. The cost for postage will be over $8,000.00. Then the property owner needs to return their vote along with their notarized signature. The last time the DoR was changed was in 2000 and it took three mailings to get the required number of votes. For our elections we get less than three hundred members vote. The only document that the Board can change without membership approval is The Rule and Regulations. This document does not change the DoR, it explains the DoR. Please if you have any questions, call the POA office, and get the correct answer. The Board has signed a contract to have a pavilion built over half of the picnic area. There will be some trees removed. Also, we are going to be removing some trees along the side of the driveway coming into the pool area in order to get additional parking. THANK YOU TO OUR BULLETIN EDITORS KIM TANCH and MERRILEE BURNS IMPORTANT DATES: July 11, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. – MONTHLY BOARD MEETING ALL MEMBERS IN GOOD STANDING ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND. ACC Corner – Joe Martere, ACC Chairperson The ACC has been receiving calls regarding the trees marked with red ribbon on the gates. This is a project of the Town in anticipation of roadwork next year. The trees marked are possibly going to be removed to prevent further damage to the roadways. THIS IS NOT UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE ACC. All questions or concerns need to be addressed to the Town Administrator at Town Hall. The ACC has also received complaints of owners parking their cars on their front and back lawns, and common areas. The ACC, along with the Advisory Committee, is working on language to address this issue. Again, as a reminder, if you are contemplating any work on the exterior of your home and have any doubts if a permit is needed, please contact me at the POA office on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. Last year, we were made up of 14 teams, and look forward to adding more teams this year. We have a lot of new neighbors in the Carolina Shores area. Come join us. We normally bowl a 26 week season on Tuesday evenings at Little River Lanes in Little River, SC. We begin practice at 5:30 p.m. weekly and we start bowling at 5:45 p.m. Normally we finish no later than 8:15 p.m. We have bowlers of all skill levels in our unsanctioned “fun” league. Last year’s cost was $15 weekly, we do not anticipate an increase in cost this year. We concluded the season in March and followed up with a banquet at which we awarded over $4,600 in prizes. We are planning our organizational meeting at Little River Lanes on August 28th at 5:30 p.m. At our meeting we will elect officers for the new year, review our rules and season schedule, and organize our teams for the coming Season which is expected to begin on September 11th. We also plan to take a week off during Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks, allowing our members to enjoy the holiday’s. You also have the ability to pre or post bowl in the case of any planned vacations. It is really a fun season, spending a night out each week with friends and neighbors. Some of our members follow bowling with a bite to eat at various local restaurants. We look forward to seeing you at Little River Lanes on August 28th at 5:30 p.m. You may contact me via email at: [email protected], with any questions. As we learned from this month’s reading selection, The Curse of Beauty by James Bone, many of us have seen her without even knowing it. If you’ve been to New York City you have probably seen her, and she may have been scantily clad. As we found out from reading the book, she was the model for many of famous sculptures in New York and elsewhere.
