RESOLUTION REGARDING THE PROHIBITION OF LIQUOR. 1062. *Maulvi Badi-111-Zaman: (a) Will the Government be ploased to state whether they have taken any steps to give effect to the Rtsolu­ tion passed in the Assembly regarding the prohibition of liquor T (b) If not, will the Government please state the reason for not giving effect to the Resolution T (c) Are the Government prepared to give effect to it without any delay T The Honoura.ble Sir Basil Bla.ckett: With your permiasion I propose to a�unver quei;tions Nos. 1062 and 1126 together. As stated last year on the 19th August in reply to question No. 134, Government have decided not to take any action on the Resolution in q1.1estion for the reasons given by me in my speech on the 2nd September 1925. Mr. X. Ahmed : How long will Government take to consider the question and give effe�t to the Resolution Y Mr. President : The Honourable Member has not heard the reply. 'l'he reply was that the Government had decided not to take any action. Mr. X. Ahmed : Declined to take any action ! Are Government uware that it is an insult to the Members of this House not to give effect to the wishes of the country ..... Mr. President : The Honourable Member knows that Uesolutions p,ii.sed by this House are recommendatory and not binding 011 the (foyern­ mcnt. The Hononra.ble Sir Basil Blackett : The answer is in the negative. NEW PENSION RULES. 1063. *Maulvi Badi-uz-Zaman: (a) Have any, new pension rules been sanctioned recently by the Secretary of State for India for Government Si3rvants T (b) If s&, will the Government be pleased to· lay.them on the table ! The Honourable Sir Basil Blackett : I would refer the Honourable Member to the reply which I gave on the 30th August, 1927, to part (a) of question No. 86, asked by Mr. Amar Nath Dutt.
