He sings predominantly in Hindi and Bengali, but has also spoken in various other Indian languages. He is the recipient of the National Award and six Filmfare Awards. Singh began his career when he participated in a modern reality show, Glory Gurukul in 2005, and was discovered by director Sanjay Lila Bhansali and Kumar Taurani. Early in his singing career, he received nominations for the Upcoming Male Vocalist of the Year award at the 2013 Mirchi Music Awards for his performance of Phir Le Aya Dil and Duaa, winning the award for the latter. Singh was widely recognized with the release of Tum Hi Ho and Chahun Main Ya Naa in 2013. Singh was named the most popular Indian artist by Spotify in 2019. The early life of Arjit Singh was born on April 25, 1987, in Giaganj, Murshidabad, West Bengal, to Kakar Singh, a Sikh father and Bengali mother. He began his musical training at a very young age at home. His maternal aunt studied Indian classical music and his maternal grandmother played. He started by singing in the cart of the film industry with Film Kedi with the song Neeve Na Neeve Na, written by Sandeep Chowt. In 2011, Singh made his Bollywood debut with Mithoon's Phir Mohabbat from Murder 2, which, although recorded in 2009, was released in 2011.
