Disabilities and Addictions DI2 (1), DI2 (2)- DISABILITY OF CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY, THE – J.R’S STORY 2 COPIES. 28 Minutes, 1984 This is a story of a strong-spirited young man whose problems with substance abuse are both physically and emotionally exacerbated by the fact that he is quadriplegic. Despite running into major problems with law, being suspended from school and sustaining bodily injury on numerous occasions, J.R continues to see his drug and alcohol use as an “acceptable risk”. After being confronted by the filmmaker about his chemical dependency, JR comes to the personal decision that if he is to have any quality of life at all, he must enter a recovery program.
