PERSBERICHT MOJO CONCERTS Delft, 7 maart 2002 ELVIS IS IN THE BUILDING – COSTELLO SET TO PLAY AT THE PARADISO Elvis Costello today announced a one-off show at the Amsterdam Paradiso on Monday 15th April with his band the Imposters. Tickets go on-sale on Saturday 9th March The same musicians who appear on his eagerly anticipated new album ‘When I was Cruel’ (release Monday 15th April) will accompany Elvis on stage at The Paradiso (Steve Nieve on keyboards, bassist Davey Faragher and drummer Pete Thomas). The first single, ‘Tear Off Your Own Head (It’s A Doll Revolution)’ is out on April 1st. Costello says that the songs on the new album were written “with a Silvertone electric guitar, a 15- watt amplifier and a kid’s beatbox with big orange buttons”. He added, “After singing so many ballads in the last few years, it was time for a rowdy rhythm record.” This concert will be the first Elvis has played with a band since June 1996, when he played the Theatre Carre, Amsterdam. More recently Elvis performed for six nights with Steve Nieve and a full orchestra at the 1999 Hieniken Festival, Rotterdam. This show will act as a launch pad for a year of touring, starting in May in America, returning this summer to play European shows, before heading to the Far East and Australia in August. Tickets go on-sale March 9th and are priced at € 35.
