www.goyanz.org.nz Issue No. 11 December 2001 GOYANZ CHRISTMAS PARADE FLOAT The Annual Wellington Christmas parade was held on November the 8th and GOYANZ was there with its first float in 18 years. The theme of the float was “Ancient Greek Gods” and of course we took the opportunity to showcase our Greek culture through the young children dressed in traditional costume. The GOYANZ float was voted in the top three floats during the parade by the parade organisers. Many thanks to Chrisanthi Kamberogiannis for putting the whole project together. Our aim was to restructure the way GOYANZ operates with the election of a GOYANZ executive that oversees the operation of several 09 March Olympic Pre-Season Function sub-committees: Netball, Senior Soccer, Junior Soccer, Ta Matia and Youth Radio. This new format allows us to appoint new sub-committees as required 16-25 March Greek Week Festivities and hopefully dispel the public perception that GOYANZ is only interested in soccer. Another objective has been to include at least one GOYANZ 25 March Greek Independence Day executive on each sub-committee.
