Nace, Secretary, Textile Department. REPORT OF THE PRESIDENT To the Members of the Pennsylvania Museum and School of Indus- trial Art. Ladies and Gentlemen:—I herewith submit to you the report of the Director of the Museum, Principal of the School and Treasurer of the Corporation. These three reports are extremely interesting and are worthy your careful consideration. The good work referred to one year ago, as having resulted from the efforts of the Director of the Museum, has been continued dur- ing the last year, covering a scope of increasing range and affording a most comprehensive view of the work of the Museum. All the various subjects have been treated in a careful and im- pressive manner. Their perusal cannot fail to excite a desire to know our Museum more intimately, and to become better ac- quainted with its opportunity for influencing the artistic sentiment in this country. Philadelphia has always been in the foreground of scientific and industrial publications, and the periodical which has been given to the public, from time to time, by the Museum authorities, under the special editing of Dr. Barber, is well worthy to take its place among the records that have so frequently distinguished our citizens. The publication of last year, an art handbook on the "Maiolica of Mexico," is a distinct acquisition to information on these lines, and it is gratifying to know that it has met with a good reception at the hands of the purchasing public, not only here, but in Europe and Mexico as well. Under the item of "Bequests" is a distinct statement as to the beneficent results derived from public-spirited
