Narayanan, Lingalavalasa Village, Tekkali Mandal, Srikakulam District. 1.2 SALIENT FEATURES OF THE PROJECT The Mine site is located in a Government land at Lingalavalasa, Telkkali Mandal, Srikakulam District. It is a govt. land extending over an area of 7.800 Ha. The Q.L area is connected by an B.T Road with internal earthen road. The Q.L area is at a distance of 5.81 km from Tekkali town. The nearest railway stations are Peddasana at 2.13 kms Temburu at 5.30 kms and Tekkali at 6.47 kms. However, the Main Railway Station is Naupada at a distance of 12.04 Km from the Q.L area it is main line towards Chennai – Howrah. 1.3 Size or magnitude of operation A total of 1, 12, 650.00 M 3 of Rock Mass will be excavated during next five years to retrieve 22, 530.00 M+3 of market grade rough blocks, there by generating 90, 120 M3 The production of colour granite continues throughout year except during monsoon. That is 10 working months, 20 working days per month are considered. The average production of 4, 506 M 3 per year can be easily achieved in a single shift with sufficient men and machinery. Hence it is proposed to mine the boulders/sheet by open cast, semi- mechanized method, by developing the benches of 6 M height in 2 phases of 3 M each. Wire saw cutting will be deployed based on the favorable conditions. The development of benches in the sheet rock will be maintained @ 60° safety slopes. The separation of blocks from the mother rock will be carried out by drilling, wedge cutting, excavation by machinery. The secondary splitting, dressing of blocks will be manually. Mining operations are to be carried out in this area in 2 stages. i.e., Development and Production.
