Valhall l Viking September, 2016 Number 7 1912—2016 President’s Message As I write this, I am preparing to go to Tacoma for the Sons of Norway Inter- national Convention. One of our jobs will be to elect a new International Board. Another will be voting on revisions to bylaws and other documents. Information will be forthcoming via the Viking, both ours and the magazine from headquarters. We resume our meetings again on Monday, September 12, a red letter day for me, my Dad’s 111th birthday! Yes, he was 20 years older than my VALHALL th LODGE mom… Then we will have our heritage social on Saturday, September 17 . 6-25 Invite all of your friends, especially those who may be interested in joining our lodge. It will be a fun night with Norsk cul- tural displays, and we will be having a POD Meetings & Socials sale. Valhall Viking 4 September 2016 LOV Notes LOV to Read The LOV Reading group met at the House of Norway to discuss July August 2016 Vilhelm Moberg's book The Emigrants on Saturday, August 6. I was not able to attend the August get together of the Lov to Read Book Club. Our cultural chairperson, Tam Stautland, reported that eight courageous readers took on the challenge of finding a parking space in Balboa Park. The group enthusiastically shared their reactions on Vilhelm Moberg’s The Emigrants that focused in on the journey from Sweden to America. Since book one left the family on the dock in New York, it was decided to continue reading book two in Ladies at reading group: Back row Myla Coleman, Lettie, Jean the series, Upon a Good Land. A video was made to show what the Foundation does.. 33rd Biennial District Six Convention The District Six Recreation Center Board took over the Loveland, Colorado meeting at one point on the second day. They listed all the things that need to be done to keep Camp Norge in shape. The District 6th Convention was hosted by the Colorado One of the big goals is to get achieve a non-profic status.
