One item for consideration is to purchase travel insurance for yourself. You can insure yourself for medical emergencies and also for travel problems or trip cancellation. One option for you to consider is through Travel Protectors LLC. This insurance is offered through our association with CMSC. Contact [email protected]. Winter Ski and Sport also offers travel insurance. Please review your situation to determine if you would like to purchase insurance. Ikon, Epic Passes for Club Trips We often get asked if an Icon or Epic pass should be purchased for our trips to save money on lift tickets. The answer is ‘no’ if you are only going on club trips. Our clubs get much better pricing from the resorts than what you can get with these passes. For example, we are paying $314 at Banff for a 5 day lift ticket. The Ikon base ticket is $599 which allows 5 days of skiing at limited resorts. The Epic 7 day pass is $699, again at limited resorts. These passes also have blackout dates and various days of skiing based on selected resorts. If you ski out west outside of club trips, they may be worth purchasing. Carefully study all the details about which resorts they cover, how many days are allowed at each resort, and blackout dates. Based on this info you may be able to use the pass on a club trip if it works out financially for you. At this point, based on the above information, neither of our clubs are going to try to set up trips based on being able to use these passes. We get much better deals. This may change in the future as these passes evolve. They have made changes every year to try and attract more skiers to resorts. I hope this information helps you plan for your ski season. Think snow and let’s make it a great ski season! 7 “Well ….. that’s a Wrap” Our Gelandesprung Ski Club’s 50th Anniversary Fall Banquet is in the books. October 4th, 2019 was Fun & Safe. Almost 90 Skiers packed into The Woods for a fest, refreshments, cake, awards, door prizes an most of all a recap of all the great ski trips that are planned.
