The previous year, the team suffered 1. Minnetonka ................................................21-2-2 through key injuries and untimely departures. Despite the team’s 2. Duluth East ................................................20-2-3 best effort, the result was a season that produced few wins. 3. Edina .........................................................23-2-0 4. St. Thomas Academy ..................................22-2-1 All who returned vowed to do better. 5. Holy Family .................................................21-3-1 6. Wayzata......................................................13-10-2 With a few exceptions the Red Knights were once again playing 7. Andover ......................................................20-5-0 highly competitive hockey against one of the state’s toughest 8. White Bear Lake .........................................20-3-2 schedules. However, the team was unable to turn many of those 9. St. Michael-Albertville ................................20-5-0 10. Cretin-Derham Hall ....................................20-3-2 great games into great victories, as they were forced to settle for 11. Centennial .................................................16-6-3 a .500 record. 12. Eastview ....................................................21-4-0 13. Moorhead ...................................................18-7-0 Metro West Conference play would produce the season’s 14. Brainerd .....................................................19-6-0 most dramatic moments. BSM opened league play against the 15. Duluth Marshall .........................................16-7-2 conference favorite from Chaska. Trailing late in the game the Red Knights pulled the goalie for an extra attacker and tied the game on a goal by Jerome Newhouse. Senior Matt Kocourek completed the comeback when junior Jett Johnson set him up with the game winner in overtime. The drama would continue a few weeks later in Chanhassen when the team dug out of a 6-2 deficit by setting a Red Knight record scoring four goals with the goalie pulled. Winning the game with only a handful of second remaining. The win set the stage for a showdown with St. Louis Park for the conference championship. The Red Knights controlled the game from the drop of the puck as it captured the program’s 20th conference championship. Two weeks later the team’s elation would give way to disappointment as it saw its section tournament hopes cut short in the quarterfinals. While the team wanted more, they take pride in adding another conference title to the program’s list of achievements. And, they have given future Red Knight teams the gift of momentum. It now falls to next year’s team to continue to move the program forward in its quest for the program’s 4th state title. 2 Red Knight Hockey 2018 Yearbook 2017-18 Varsity Roster Varsity Game Results No. Name Pos Year Opponent Score 3 Michael McNeil .....................D .........
