Lemur Mask and Tail on Cardstock Or Use Regular Paper and Then Glue to Cardstock

Pretend to be a Lemur! You will need: • White cardstock • Printer • Scissors • Tape • Safety pin • Hole punch • Yarn or string • Markers or crayons Ring-tailed lemur • Glue Directions: 1. Print out the blank lemur mask and tail on cardstock or use regular paper and then glue to cardstock. 2. When cutting out the tail, use 2 pieces of white cardstock so that you have 2 identical tail pieces. 3. Tape your 2 tail pieces together to make a big S shape (see picture on pg. 2)—lemurs have very long tails. 4. Color your mask to match one of our 2 species of lemurs: ring-tailed or red-ruffed. 5. Cut out your mask. 6. Cut out the black circles in the eyes to make the eyeholes. 7. Make sure your tail matches your mask. The ring-tailed will have alternating black and white stripes, and the red-ruffed will have a solid black tail. 8. Use a hole punch, make a hole on each side of the mask and tie a piece of string or yarn to each hole for hands free lemur-ing! 9. Attach your tail with the safety pin. 10. Now you can move it-move it like a lemur! Lemurs can leap 25 feet. How far can you leap? 11. Did you know there are over 100 species of lemurs? Can you find another type of lemur and make a mask and tail for it? Or you could design your own lemur! Take a look at your habitat and design a lemur that would live there. Red-ruffed lemur 12. Show us your lemur on our Facebook page “Adventures in EdZOOcation” or tag the North Carolina Zoo at #NCZOO or #NCZOOED.
