Twentieth Northern Marianas Commonwealth Legislature IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES --------- SESSION, 2018 H. Res. 20-tl.1----- A HOUSE RESOLUTION To congratulate and commend the Kagman High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp. Ayuyu Battalion for their stellar performance at the Golden Bear West Coast National Drill Meet in Torrance, California on April 28, 2018. 1 WHEREAS, on February 24, 2018, the Kagman High School Junior 2 Reserve Officer Training Corp. (JROTC) Ayuyu Battalion won the overall 3 Unarmed Division in the 2018 Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp. Drill 4 Competition held at the Marianas High School; and 5 WHEREAS, Kagman High School JROTC Ayuyu Battalion earned the 6 privilege to represent the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and to 7 compete in the Golden Bear West Coast National Drill Meet in Torrance, California 8 on April 28, 2018; and 9 WHEREAS, the Golden Bear West Coast National Drill Meet consists of 10 several competitions between 4 divisions; Unarmed, Armed, Color guard, and 11 Saber; this drill meet is described by other schools as a challenging event, where 12 schools from all across the United States travel all the way to Torrance, California 13 to show the other schools what they are made of and that is why the Golden Bear 14 Drill Meet is the biggest JROTC competition on the west coast; and HOUSE RESOLUTION 20------%' 1 WHEREAS, Kagman High School JROTC Ayuyu Battalion showed the 2 fortitude and the will to perform to the best of their ability by garnering 3nt Place in 3 the Novice Color Guard Pad 2; 1st Place in the Unarmed Regulation Novice; 1st 4 Place in the Unarmed Exhibition Novice; I st Place in the Outstanding Commander 5 Novice Unarmed; and 151 Place in the Over all Trophy Novice Unarmed 6 Sweepstakes; and 7 WHEREAS, Kagman High School JROTC Ayuyu Battalion, along with 8 the Saipan Southern High School JROTC Manta Ray Battalion and the Tinian High 9 School JROTC Stallion Battalion, formed the Commonwealth of the Northern 10 Mariana Islands Multi-School Unit Team that garnered the coveted title of Overall 11 Golden Bear National Championship Trophy and the All Army Championship 12 Travelling Trophy; and 13 WHEREAS, Kagman High School JROTC Ayuyu Battalion competed 14 with over 60 other schools in a fierce competition that showcased the best of the 15 best JR OTC high school programs from all of the different Army brigades; and 16 WHEREAS, the Kagman High School JROTC Ayuyu Battalion cadets 17 who performed exceptionally in the 2018 Golden Bear Drill Meet included, Edson 18 Valdisimo, Thomas Agulto, Victor lgitol, Juan Lizama, Kayleen Faisao, Aira 19 Ngalongalo, Taylor Sablan, Junell Charfauros, Dionessis Valdisimo, Jimmy 20 Marquez, David Santos, Joseph Santos, Ava Cabrera, Mariecris Estal, Marlyn 21 Dawe, and Danika Tagabuel; and Page2 HOUSE RESOLUTION 20------~' 1 WHEREAS, the Kagman High School JROTC Ayuyu Battalion were 2 fortunate to receive unwavering support and dedication from their chaperones: 3 Captain James Burke, Senior Drill Instructor, Kagman High School JROTC; 4 Sergeant First Class Giovanni Siruelo, Kagman High School JROTC and Mrs. 5 Leila Staffler, Principal, Kagman High School; all provided the cadets' the latitude 6 to perfect and hone their skills which are essential elements in any student's 7 success; and 8 WHEREAS, the Kagman High School JROTC Ayuyu Battalion 9 demonstrated exemplary qualities of determination, dedication, and fortitude to 10 believe in their ability to succeed as well as overcome all obstacles that got in their 11 way in all competitions; and 12 WHEREAS, the Kagman High School JROTC Ayuyu Battalion displayed 13 exceptional will to achieve their maximum potential and possess the "can do 14 attitude"; and 15 WHEREAS, Kagman High School JROTC Ayuyu Battalion exemplary 16 cadets depicted Saipan' s pride of exceptional role models for all students; and 17 WHEREAS, the Members of the Twentieth Northern Marianas 1 8 Commonwealth Legislature and the People of the Commonwealth are immensely 19 proud of the exemplary achievements of the Kagman High School JROTC Ayuyu 20 Battalion; 21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the House of 22 Representatives, Twentieth Northern Marianas Commonwealth Legislature, that Page 3 HOUSE RESOLUTION 20------%.' 1 the House hereby congratulates and commends the Kagman High School JROTC 2 Ayuyu Battalion on their triumphant and celebratory performances; and 3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Speaker of the House of 4 Representatives shall certify, and the House Clerk shall attest to the adoption of this 5 Resolution and thereafter transmit certified copies to the Kagman High School 6 JROTC Ayuyu Battalion; the Honorable Ralph DLG.
