LEST WE FORGET WESTERN AUSTRALIAN WAR MEMORIALS HMAS VOYAGER (II) MEMORIAL, KINGS PARK The HMAS Voyage Memorial is located near the intersection of Saw Avenue and May Drive, Kings Park, and its inscription reads: HMAS Voyager 1957-1964 In memory of the nine Western Australian crew members who gave their lives on 10 February 1964 in the Service of Australia Harris P L – Keddie K S – Leeson L J McDonald R E – McGregor I A G – Milbourne P D Sparrowhawk J E – Taylor F T – Trautman J B They Shall Not Pass Away The Memorial is unique in Kings Park in that it is the only Armed Forces Memorial that commemorates personnel not lost during wartime or a period of operational service. HMAS Voyager sank as the result of a collision with HMAS Melbourne (Decommissioned 30 June 1982) late at night on Monday 10 February 1964 off the New South Wales coast, 20 miles south east of Jervis Bay. There were 232 survivors and 82 lives lost.
