Ancestry Library Edition - available at many local libraries. This edition of Ancestry includes research information for the United States and the United Kingdom Ancestry.com Free Databases - http://www.searchforancestors.com/ancestryfreebies.html - There are databases on this web site that are always free, i.e., 1880 U.S. census, 1881 U.K. census, WWI Civilian Draft Registration (U.S.), etc. Ancestry.com Online Obituary Collection - https://search.ancestry.com/search/obit - Obituaries published in newspapers from the United States, England, Scotland, Ireland, and Canada. DAR Genealogical Records Committee Index - http://grc.dar.org/dar/darnet/grc/grc.cfm?Action=overview - The Daughters of the American Revolution members have transcribed previously unpublished genealogical records. This is a free index to many of these unpublished records. You can obtain a copy of the record, for a fee, by making a request to the DAR. At the above web site, click on "Search Services" and then "Photocopy Service" to obtain information on how to make a request. Some public and private libraries have copies of these DAR records and you may be able to obtain a copy through them.
