Frederic Edwin Church, by Franklin Kelly and others (National Gallery of Art.) Includes The highly recommended essay Church, Humboldt, and Darwin: The Tension and Harmony of Art and Science which also appears in author Stephen Jay Gould’s book I Have Landed. 3. The Landscapes of Frederic Edwin Church, by David C. Huntington rescued Church from near-obscurity upon publication in 1966, and launched the successful Save Olana movement.
