Government of Uttarakhand Information and Public Relations Department Media Center secretariat Press Note Ramnagar ( Nainital) / Dehradun, 6 th October: The Chief Minister, Uttarakhand Vijay Bahuguna laid the foundation stone and inaugurated projects worth Rs 21 crore at Peerumadara and Maladhnachaud. Several projects which were inaugurated included the work of repair and reconstruction of routes from Devipura to Gandhi Nagar Marg of around 2 Km worth 161.37 lakh, Repair and reconstruction of 11.05 Km long ring road worth 12.34 Crore, reconstruction of 2.35 Km routes between Peerumadara and Benivihar Colony worth 1.77 Crore; Construction of administrative block, workshop, tube well, road construction etc worth 288.39 lakh and Rs 252 lakh for 33/11 power sub stations. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, The CM Vijay Bahuguna gave an approval to open a degree college in Maladhnachaud and a nursing college in Ramnagar. He also announced 8 transformers of 100 KVA, 80 electricity poles and ASCR Conductor for a 10 Km line. He added that the yatras for Badrinath, Kedartnath, Yamunotri, Gangotri and Govind Ghaat dhaam have been resumed in Uttarakhand. Within 100 days of the disaster, Rs 163 crore of relief money was distributed to the disaster victims. He said that work is on to repair damaged roads and irrigation system. Due to the disaster, the BPL families will be relieved from giving the electricity bill while relief will also soon be given to hoteliers and businessmen. By starting the yatra, we have sent a message that the state is safe for tourism now. He added that the Food Security Act was implemented in the state on 9 th September. Under this scheme, 62 percent of the state’s population will be benefited. He said that common rules for eco sensitive zones will not be made in the state instead a report will be made according to every area and will be presented within three months by the state government to the union government. He said that migration to other areas from Ukhand will be completely controlled by generating employment through small scale and cottage industries. Rs 250 crore proposal to promote tourism in Tehri Lake has been presented to the Central government .The state is going through an electricity deficit thus the government is buying it to make up. He stated that the disaster had damaged several hydel power projects, thus they will also be repaired to make up for the electricity loss. Approval has also been given to several projects such as a degree college in Maladhnachaud, Nursing College in Ramnagar repair of road from Pawalgarh to Katarikhan, Brige in Laldhang, RCC bridge in Tumarhiyadam, 40 lakhs for shift from normal pipes to GI pipe at Kaniyan, Flood security work at Kosi River and solar fencing at villages near the forest. Present on the occasion were Legislator Nainital Sarita Arya, Mh Akram, DM Satish Nainwal, Tauif Khan, Krishna Latwal, Shivraj Singh who addressed the gathering. Tourism Minister Amrita Rawat expressed her gratitude to the CM for having sanctioned so many programs. She put forward 27 demands in front of the CM which were accepted. She said that a hotel management institute will soon be started in Ramnagar. Parliamentarian KC Singh Baba said that state and the union government is committed to development. The program was presided over by Satpal Maharaj. He made a demand to make Kumaon University a open university. He further said that events and fairs should be organized in the state to give a push to tourism. Others present were Nishant, Maruti Nandan Shah, Ramesh Pandey, Khajan, Abdul Kareem, Shishupal Singh, Rajendra Singh Negi, Gopal Singh, Harjinder Singh, Prakash, GN Goswami and Dr Sadanand.
