Admire the "Kaiserthermen" (Emperor‘s hot springs) and the Porta Nigra - historical buildings of first rank in the Roman city of Trier. By bike you reach famous towns like Bernkastel Kues, Traben Tarbach, Cochem, Neumagen Dhron (the oldest German wine town) and Enkirch, a jewel of the regional medieval "Fachwerk" (Tudor style) architecture. Visit Castle Eltz and enjoy romantic stretches on your ride. In the evening you find pleasure in regional delicacies brought to you by select restaurants. Day 2: Trier - Trittenheim 40 km You leave Germany’s oldest town and cycle along the Moselle, where the old ferry tower of Schweich is located. Marvel at the small wine- growing village Mehring with the famous Villa Rustica, a ruin, that was in Roman times a magnificent country house. In the afternoon you reach Trittenheim. Today we recommend a tasting (8 wines) with cellar visitation and vintage snack. (please book in advance). Day 3: Trittenheim - Zeltingen 36 km After a few kilometers you reach Neumagen-Dhron, the oldest wine growing town in Germany. Admire the relief of the old Roman ship before you continue your bike ride over the winding cycle path. You can enjoy lunch on the market square of Bernkastel- Kues. You will be amazed by the colorful workmanship and the many small streets. Your destination of today's cycling stage of the famous and traditional Moselle wine town Zeltingen-Rachtig is now reached quickly. With around 171 hectares of vineyards and the world famous vineyards of Zeltinger Himmelreich, Schlossberg, Sonnenuhr and Deutschherrenberg, the town belongs to the large and well-known wine growing communities on the Mittelmosel. Day 4: Zeltingen - Zell 35 km You cycle through the wine growing area Kröver Nacktarsch to Traben-Trarbach. Complete your programme of today with a boat tour on the Moselle. After a break in Enkirch, the role model of framework architecture, you reach Zell. Day 5: Zell - Treis-Karden 47 km Today you cycle via Beilstein the, Rothenburg at the Moselle, to Cochem. There you can visit the picturesque city centre as well as the old Reichsburg castle (11th century). This is really worth it! Take the time to visit the castle, because the last 12 km of your bike ride to the hotel in Treis-Karden are easy to get around. Day 6: Treis Karden - Koblenz 42 km In the morning, detour (4 km) to the medieval Eltz Castle, one of the most beautiful and best preserved castles in Germany. Afterwards you cycle back to the Moselle cycle path. This proudly presents you once again typical Moselle wine regions such as Kobern-Gondorf and Winningen. In Koblenz at the Deutsches Eck the Moselle flows into the Rhine and so you spend the last evening of your bike trip on the Mosel and the Rhine. Very relaxed cycling in mostly flat terrain. The route runs almost exclusively on paved roads and is very well signposted. The volume of traffic varies, but between Trier and Cochem there is almost always a separate bike trail on the right or left shore side, off the main road. Only during your last day you have to cycle a section on a wide bicycle lane next to the main road.
