HOPE REIGNS FOUNDATION COMMUNITY REPORT 2 0 1 9 - 2020 SEASON The Ontario Reign is proud to be an integral part of the Inland Empire community, both on and off the ice. Reign community outreach is focused on enhancing educational, recreational and health-related programs for the youth of the Inland Empire area. Reign players and members of the Reign family actively work with local youth organizations and community groups to increase awareness and raise funds to support the Reign community signature initiatives. Cool School booklets provided grade appropriate, hockey-related curriculum and materials to all classes in attendance at Toyota Arena. LIGHTSPEED ACADEMY The Lightspeed Academy, located in the Ontario Library, is designed to bring innovation, creativity, and economic opportunity to the Inland Empire. Started during the 2018-19 season, the two-year $60,000 Lightspeed Academy total commitment continues to provide artists, designers, entrepreneurs, and educators with access to state-of-the-art technology and resources. $30,000 $35,000+ Cool School Bussing EDUCATION ANNUAL DANBURY SCHOOL VISIT Home to 80 preschool through sixth grade students who have physical disabilities and/or health impairments, Sumner Danbury School is an annual visit for Ontario Reign players. While at the school, players show the students how to play street hockey along with visiting their classrooms to read books and get to know the children individually. RECREATION PLAYGROUND PACKS AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION In partnership with the American Heart Association, the Hope Reigns Foundation purchased 10 Playground Packs to be distributed to various schools throughout the Inland Empire. As a part of the Heart Hero Challenge, these Playground Packs provided schools with jump ropes, soccer balls, and more aerobic activities. $5,000 DONATED RECREATION SPECIAL OLYMPICS INLAND EMPIRE POLAR PLUNGE During the 2019-20 season, a unique project was created to support the Special Olympics Inland Empire Polar Plunge in Big Bear Lake. On February 21, 2020, the Ontario Reign hosted the local Floor Hockey team for Hockey is for Everyone night. On this night, Reign captain Brett Sutter’s younger brother Chris Sutter presented a check on behalf of the Hope Reigns Foundation for $5,000 toward the Polar Plunge fundraising efforts. OVER $6,000 RAISED RECREATION GROW THE GAME As a part of an effort to grow the game of hockey throughout the Inland Empire, two dates were designated as Hockey Development days where players either participated in youth ice hockey practices or elementary school ball hockey. This season was the first year implementing this structure with the goal to get as many kids with a hockey stick in their hands as possible. Across the two events, almost 1,000 kids participated in a hockey- based activity. JUNIOR REIGN SCHOLARSHIP In addition to growing the game, the Hope Reigns Foundation donated $12,500 to the Jr. Reign Scholarship Fund to help make travel, equipment and game fees more feasible for youth players and their families. HEALTH STOP THE BLEED In continuation of a two- year commitment to the Ontario Fire Department, the Hope Reigns Foundation donated $10,000 to help provide trauma kits to Ontario high schools. In addition to these trauma kits, the Ontario Fire Department will train all school staff administration on bleed control techniques to prepare them to take immediate $20,000 DONATED life-saving actions. CPR CERTIFICATION AMERICAN RED CROSS In partnership with the American Red Cross, the Hope Reigns Foundation donated $10,000 to help the implementation of CPR Certification classes in high schools throughout the Inland Empire. As certifications become a requirement for high school students to complete, the Ontario Reign wanted to help start at the ground floor to make these courses more accessible to students. $10,000 DONATED HEALTH LOMA LINDA UNIVERSITY CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL VISIT Every year, the Ontario Reign players visit the children staying at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital. Players were split up into small groups to visit patients in their hospital room, play games in the playroom, take pictures, and make crafts with the kids. Additionally, the Hope Reigns Foundation donated $10,000 to the Loma Linda Children’s Hospital Annual Gala. $10,000 DONATED FUNDRAISING ANNUAL REIGN GALA PRESENTED BY DOUBLETREE BY HILTON ONTARIO AIRPORT AND THE CLAREMONT CLUB The Annual Reign Gala and Jersey Auction presented by The Claremont Club and the Doubletree by Hilton Ontario Airport, supports the Be Perfect Foundation which helps those with spinal cord injuries. Guests in attendance mingled with players and coaches during cocktail hour in the courtyard as well as during dinner. The 2020 warmup jerseys as well as a photo with the team were auctioned off live at the end of the evening. This event reached new heights as $37,400 were raised for the Be Perfect Foundation. $37,400 RAISED FUNDRAISING $21,575 3rd ANNUAL PINS & PUCKS PRESENTED BY U.S. BANK Pins & Pucks is one of the Hope Reigns Foundations largest fundraisers of the year and helps support our various community initiatives. Guests were able to purchase a bowling lane for 5 guests to be joined by a Reign player. Through tickets, raffles, and silent auctions, $21,575 were raised for the Hope Reigns Foundation. RAISED FUNDRAISING SPECIALTY JERSEY AUCTIONS Throughout the 2019-20 Season, 8 in-game specialty jersey auctions took place including Dia de los Muertos, Hockey Fights Cancer, and Pink in the Rink. Overall, these specialty jersey auctions grossed over $130,000. BENEFICIARIES INCLUDE: Hope Reigns Foundation American Red Cross San Antonio Regional Hospital Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital American Cancer Society FUNDRAISING 50/50 RAFFLE During Ontario Reign home games, fans are able to purchase 50/50 Raffle tickets which gives them the opportunity to win 50% of the overall jackpot for the designated game. The other 50% goes back to the Hope Reigns Foundation to continue it’s work throughout the Inland Empire community. $152,875 RAISED A new fundraiser this year was created with an environmentally conscious mindset. By collecting CRV approved plastic bottles and aluminum cans in the Ontario Reign front office and redeeming them at McCoy Recycling, Hope Reigns Foundation was able to generate over $1,000. The money raised through recycling was then put back into the community through various projects. 14.5 LBS OF PLASTIC 8.4 LBS OF ALUMINUM $1,052 GENERATED FUNDRAISING HOPE REIGNS BOOTH During specialty games, Hope Reigns sells autographed mystery pucks and warmup-used pucks for fans to purchase. Themed pucks included We Are All Kings mystery pucks that included signatures from both LA Kings and Reign players, Hockey Fights Cancer warmup pucks, Pink in the Rink mystery pucks and Hockey is for Everyone warmup pucks. Additionally, Hope Reigns sells specialty autographed ornaments during the holiday season. This year’s ornaments featured a mock All-Star jersey and a replica Holiday Jersey that matched what the players wore on the ice for the annual Teddy Bear Toss game. Combined, these items grossed over $13,000 for the Hope Reigns Foundation. SILENT AUCTIONS Each home game, fans could bid to win autographed canvases, game-used equipment, jerseys, and other signed memorabilia from the Hope Reigns silent auction. By texting ‘Reign’ to 76278, fans registered to receive text alerts and could bid directly from their phone. Because of the generosity of the Reign fans, the silent auctions raised over $40,000 throughout the course of the season for the Hope Reigns Foundation. FUNDRAISING KINGSTON’S KRAZIES IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CHICK-FIL-A Each year, the Hope Reigns Foundation sells Kingston’s Krazies packs at the Hope Reigns Booth for $20. Each pack comes with an Ontario Reign water bottle, Kingston Bobblehead, Membership Card and a gift card for a Chick-Fil-A kids meal. In the span of two months, Kingston’s Krazies raised over $3,000 for the Hope Reigns Foundation. SPREADING HOPE HERO OF THE NIGHT PRESENTED BY LUCAS OIL The Ontario Reign’s Lucas Oil Hero of the Night is a season-long commitment to recognize community heroes. Throughout the season, the Reign honored members from all branches of the United States military, police, and fire departments along with local community heroes. SPREADING HOPE HOLIDAY CALLS Every year, Reign players take time after practice to call ALL- IN Season Ticket Members to thank them for their continued support and wish them a Happy Holidays. STUFF-A-BUS During the Holiday Season, Reign fans and employees are encouraged to donate toys to be brought to Mathis Brothers for the Annual Spark of Love Stuff-A-Bus Toy Drive. Over 100 toys were donated to children throughout the Inland Empire. SHOEBOX PROJECT This season, Hope Reigns teamed up with the wives and girlfriends of Ontario Reign players to bring the Shoebox Project to the Inland Empire community. During two games in December, fans were encouraged to create shoeboxes filled with feel-good items for women going through tough times.
