Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) Satellite Data and Services for International Customers Resourcesat-2 Cartosat-1 Food Security • Crop forecasting and modeling • Participatory watershed development • Potential fishing zone (PFZ) forecast • Wasteland monitoring Resourcesat-2A Water Security • Surface and ground water monitoring • Ground water prospect and recharge • Irrigation and command areas studies Oceansat-2 Disaster Management Support • Comprehensive disaster management system • Near real time disaster monitoring (Flood, Cyclone, Drought) • Support to International Disaster Charter, Sentinel Asia, UN-SPIDER Infrastructure Cartosat-2 Series • Urban and Infrastructure development • Rural road connectivity • Towns/cities development plans Environment Security • Forest type and cover mapping • Snow and glacier studies • Weather forecast and modeling • Biodiversity characterisation at Landscape level www.antrix.co.in Resourecesat-2 & 2A Resourcesat-2 Mission is continuation of Resourcesat-1 mission with enhanced capabilities. The satellite has a combination of three multi-spectral and multi-resolution sensors which are LISS-4, LISS-3 and AWiFS payloads for natural resources monitoring and management. Resourcesat-2A (RS-2A) mission is planned to provide continuity of services to Resourcesat-2 (RS-2) data users. Hence, RS2A payload system is conceived with the same payloads as that of RS2. The salient features of these two satellites are given below: Table 2: Payload Specifications for Resourcesat-2 & 2A Sensors Parameters LISS-4 LISS-3 AWiFS Resolution (m) 5.8 23.5 56 Swath (km) 70 / 23 140 740 No. of Bands 3 4 4 Spectral Bands (µm) Band 2: 0.52 ‐ 0.59 Band 2: 0.52 ‐ 0.59 Band 2: 0.52 ‐ 0.59 Band 3: 0.62 ‐ 0.68 Band 3: 0.62 ‐ 0.68 Band 3: 0.62 ‐ 0.68 Band 4: 0.77 ‐ 0.86 Band 4: 0.77 ‐ 0.86 Band 4: 0.77 ‐ 0.86 Band3 - default band in Band 5: 1.55 ‐ 1.70 Band 5: 1.55 ‐ 1.70 Mono Quantisation (Bits) 10 10 12 Revisit (days) 5 (Mono band) 24 5 Equatorial Crossing Time 10:30 AM +/- 10 min (at descending node) Applications • Land Use/ Land Cover • Pipeline routing/planning • Natural Resources Inventory and Monitoring • Agriculture, Geological, Forestry and Environment • Infrastructure planning • Disaster management • Urban Planning • Disaster/Hazard Monitoring • Transportation and utilities planning Resourcesat Images AWIFS LISS-III LISS-IV Oceansat-2 The Oceansat -2 Mission was envisaged as the continuity service provider to the Oceansat-1 data user. It carried an 8 Band Ocean Color Monitor with improvements in Spectral Bands of 6 and 7. Ocean Colour Monitor (OCM) The OCM is an 8-band multi-spectral camera operating in the visible-Near IR spectral range. This camera provides an instantaneous Geometric Field of View of 360 m covering a swath of 1420 km. This wide swath enables the OCM to provide a repetivity of two days for any given area. To avoid sun glint due to specular reflection from ocean surface, there is provision to tilt the OCM camera by +20 deg in the along the track direction. It provides panchromatic imagery with a resolution of 0.65 m and Multispectral data in four bands with a resolution better than 2m, with a nominal swath around 10 km. The satellite is capable of steering up to +/- 45° and +/- 26° in along and across the tracks respectively. The satellite uses Time Delay Integration (TDI) concept for image acquisition.
