The £1.7 million scheme will take approximately 6 months to deliver. Preparatory investigation works have already started on site and the construction works will commence February/March with completion programmed for September 2017. The development contributes to the Council’s Housing Strategy, which aims to deliver more Council built social housing to support households in need in the town. The assisted homes have been developed to help reduce the need for people with care needs to be accommodated out of Borough. Works are due to commence in January 2017 with completion programmed for December 2017. The site will be secure and will include CCTV cameras. The project is to build 22, two bedroom homes, which will provide sufficient space for a carer and 2, three bedroom homes. The development contributes to the Council’s Housing Strategy, which aims to deliver more Council built social housing to support households in need in the town. The new CPTs combines Neighbourhood Policing, Response teams and Local Crime Investigators so there is a “one team” approach to community policing. It means there is a bigger team of officers and police staff available to attend incidents and improves communication between teams and departments. It gives the public a better service because issues can potentially be resolved at the first point of contact (101 and 999 call-takers) and provides them with a named officer/police staff member who they will be able to keep in touch with during the investigation. It also encourages officers and staff to take more “ownership” of cases. There are 3 new Community Policing Teams in Swindon: Swindon North, Swindon West, Swindon South. The 3 Swindon Teams are overseen by a Superintendent and have an Inspector and a Deputy. The teams are made up of a mix of police officers, community co-ordinators, PCSOs, civilian local crime investigators and Specials. Details for each of the teams is attached so you can see your local contacts.
