ORDINANCE NO. 14,602 AN ORDINANCE renaming all that portion of County Line Road lying west of Fleur Drive in the City of Des Moines to "Echo Valley Drive". WHEREAS, County Line Road west of Fleur Drive has been relocated and is not longer centered upon the line between Polk and Warren Counties; and, WHEREAS, a portion of the original County Line Road west of Fleur Drive remains, creating two parallel streets with the same name; and, WHEREAS, the Mayor of Norwalk has requested that the City of Des Moines rename County Line Road west of Fleur Drive to Echo Valley Drive to match the name being given to the continuation of the street in the City of Norwalk; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Des Moines, Iowa: Section 1. That the portion of the street within the City of Des Moines, Iowa, designated and known as County Line Road and formerly also known as 80th Avenue S.W., extending west from Fleur Drive, is hereby renamed and shall hereafter be known as "Echo Valley Drive", except that portion thereof described in Section 2, below. Sec. 2. That the portion of the street within the City of Des Moines, Iowa, designated and known as County Line Road and formerly also known as 80th Avenue S.W., lying East of the East right-of-way line of Iowa Highway 5; and lying West of a North/South line located 1086.54 feet West of the centerlines of Section 32, Township 78 North, Range 24 West of the 5th P.M., in Polk County, Iowa, and Section 5, Township 77 North, Range 24 West of the 5th P.M., in Warren County, Iowa; and lying North of a line located 40 feet South of the North line of said Section 5, shall remain and shall hereafter continue be known as "County Line Road". Sec. 3. That every reference in the Municipal Code of the City of Des Moines, Iowa, 2000, to these portions of County Line Road herein renamed to Echo Valley Drive shall be interpreted to refer to Echo Valley Drive. Sec. 4. The City Council finds that this amendment will affect the following official plats in Polk County, Iowa, which are the only official plats of land now directly adjoining the portions of County Line Road hereby renamed to Echo Valley Drive: Airport Business Park Plat 1, an Official Plat, City of Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa. Airport Crossroads Subdivision, an Official Plat, City of Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa. Sec. 5. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as provided by law. Sec. 6. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this ordinance to the Polk County Recorder, Polk County Auditor and Polk County Assessor, and to the Warren County Recorder, Warren County Auditor and Warren County Assessor. The City Clerk is hereby further authorized and directed to forward a copy of this ordinance to Qwest Communications, Mid-American Energy, MediaCom, Des Moines Water Works, U.S. Post Office – Post Master, U.S. Post Office – Technical Sales and Services, City Engineer, City Land Records, Public Works – Street Department, Public Works – Forestry Division, Fire Department, Police Department – Research and Development Section, City Traffic and Transportation Division, Information Technology Department, and the City Zoning Enforcement Officer.
