FUNDY COAST Explore one of the world’s most dramatic and dynamic coastlines. Visit Atlantic Canada’s Bay of Fundy! Home to the highest tides in the world, the Bay of Fundy is a 270 km (170 mile) long ocean bay that stretches along New Brunswick's east coast. Each day 100 billion tones of seawater flows in and out of the Bay of Fundy during one tide cycle more than the combined flow of the world’s freshwater rivers! The travel time from city of Moncton is 1 hour and 40 minutes to Saint Martins, NB. The FUNDY TRAIL PARKWAY opens up previously unreachable areas of the Bay of Fundy coastline. Skirting cliff tops above the world’s highest tides, the Fundy Trail winds its way along one of the last remaining coastal wilderness areas between Florida and Labrador. From stunning ocean views above the caves of St. Martins to the deep pools and rapids of Big Salmon River, the Trail will delight you at every turn. Contact Beverley Franklin 229 Main Street St. Martins, NB E5R 1B7 Tel: 506-833-2019 Fax: 506-833-2028 Email: [email protected] Website: www.fundytrailparkway.com SAINT MARTIN CAVES These natural, exquisite results of erosion are always a popular interest for youths as they get the opportunity to see for themselves the power of the tides. They will have the opportunity to walk on the beach and explore the caves. This is possible during mid-tide to low-tide only, therefore alternating times with the visit to Fundy Trail may be necessary to make the best experience available to your group. Lunch in Saint Martins overlooking the Bay of Fundy. Afterward, travel 1 hour and 35 minutes to Fundy National Park Caves Family Restaurant 506-833-4998 or Seaside Take-out & Restaurant 506-833-2394 FUNDY NATIONAL PARK for a guided educational tour. When you arrive at the park, meet your interpreter at the Visitor Centre. This will also be the best opportunity for a washroom break. After the guided walk, you may want to have a picnic and perhaps take a hike on one of our great trails before returning. Any preparation that you can do with your class about national parks and about the habitat we’ll be visiting always enhances the experience for them and for us.
