J-E went on to say that Sacramento has a very rich beer making history. At one time Yolo County was a very large grower of hops. Captain Frank Ruhstaller came to Sacramento from Switzerland to eventually became to the Managing Director of Buffalo Beer a premium craft beer; Gilt Edge lager beer in 1881. J-E started out by making a few kegs of beer and then quickly moved to 20 oz bottles with burlap covered neck. The burlap is placed on by hand by Pride Industries personnel. Bob Ceccato is still recuperating Past President well from his back surgery and Don Fipps, present at the meeting Len Strickland today is recovering from his April 3rd back surgery.
