With 193 players competing in at least one FIVB-sanctioned event, the French had 112 men and 81 women participating in international Beach Volleyball events. France is one of 15 countries to have at least one team in each of the three Olympic Beach Volleyball competitions. Jean-Philippe Jodard and Christian Penigaud posted France's top finishes on the men's SWATCH-FIVB World Tour. The pair had four podium placements and 10 "final four" finishes. Jodard and Penigaud claimed France's only SWATCH gold medal by winning the Spanish Open in 1991 at Almeria.
