This sporting event, which attracts 400 000 spectators, owes its name to a French aviator who fought and died during the First World War. In 2015, the Swiss number two player, Stan Wawrinka, confounded all forecasts by beating (4-6/6-4/6-3/6-4) the tournament’s favorite, the Serb Novak Djokovic. The World number one player, Serena Williams, dominated Roland Garros for the third time beating the Czech Lucie Safarova (6-3, 6-7, 6-2), hence winning the 20th Grand Slam title in her career. Today, the tournament is fully deserving of its reputation as the world’s premier clay court event. INTERVIEW with MARGARET 1. How did you manage to start writing such a successful blog at such a young age as 16? I startedZhang my blog to provide me with a creative outlet that my school schedule, that was dominated by chemistry, physics and mathematics, was not giving me. It evolved from being just a collection of things I found creatively inspiring, to including my personal style and eventually my personal work in photography, styling, writing and creative direction. I never intended it to become anything beyond creative self-expression, and to be honest I don’t think it has. When people started to enjoy seeing and reading it, and following along, it was and is super flattering! 2. When did you start to love photography? I started shooting at around age 12 on film while I was studying ballet (and spent a lot of time in dark rooms), then picked up digital photography when I was 17. 3. You are a stylist, photographer, writer, creative director. Do you have some hidden talents? I keep pretty busy with all of the above! 4. What are your favorite fashion brands? My favourite designers are Nicholas Ghesquière, Raf Simons, Mrs Prada and Alessandro Michele. 5. What is the most adorable country you have visited? I fell in love with Morocco after spending two weeks travelling through the coastal towns, the Atlas mountains and the Sahara desert. I wouldn’t say it’s adorable, but endlessly fascinating and beautiful. 6. Is it difficult to have such a strong work ethic and manage to communicate a lot on social media? I’m definitely not militant about posting on social media. If I love a picture, or want to share recent work I’ve produced, I’ll put it out there. I like to keep it as a true reflection of what I am doing day to day. Sometimes I will go days without posting, simply because all I’ve been doing is sitting in meetings and there’s nothing beautiful or interesting about that! 7.What is your most precious piece of clothing? I have this ridiculous teal blue vintage skirt that I never wear, but it was my first real independent purchase at age 13.
