Thc Young And Thc Rcstless has becn thc # 1 rated daytime drama series for over 18 eonsecutive ycars and can be a seen in over 30 foreign countries. In addition, Thc Young And The Restless has a world wide daily audience of 120,000,000 vicwers. In 1998, hc receivcd his first Emmy A ward in the category of "Outstanding Lead Actor In A Daytime Drama Series" and during the same ycar hc was the rccipien1 of "The People Choice Award" as "Most Popular Actor In A Daytime Drama Series." In 1997, he rcccivcd a Soap Update Award in the category of Outstanding Lead Actor In A Daytimc Drama Series." In all, Eric has becn nominated for seven Emmy Awards. In February 2005, Eric received a proclamation from Councilman Tom LaBonge proclaiming February 1,2005 as "Eric Braeden Day" in the city of Los Angeles signed by the Mayor Of Los Angeles. In 1995, Eric received the highest honor from the Italian Television in Italy from the Prime Minister Bcrlusconi. In 1996, Eric was honored at the 38th Anual Monte Carlo Television FestivaL. 2007 marks Bracdcn's 46th Anniversary in film and television where he has starred with the likes of Marlon Brando, Bette Davis, Leonardo DiCaprio, Geraldline, Page, Burt Reynolds, Dennis Hopper, Jame Earl Jones, Curt Jurgens, Raquel Welch, Tyne Daly, James Arness, Mary Tyler Moore, Jack Lord among others. Eric just completed executive producing and staring in the feature fim The Man Who Came Back, a period western also staring Armand Assante, Bily Zane, Sean Young, Carol Alt, George Kennedy which was directcd by Glen Pitre and wil be released in 2008. Eric starred as Charles Forbin in the science fiction classic Colossus: The Forbin Project directed by Joscph Sargent. He-starrcd as John Jacob Astor in James Cameron's fcature film The Titanic which rcceived more Academy Awards than any other film in history. Eric also starred in the classic 1960's television series The Rat Patrol as Captain Hans Dietrich. His other feature fill and television scries credits include Morituri, 100 Rifes, Operation Eichmann, Happily Ever After, The Judge Andjack Wyler, The Ultimate Thril, Escape From The Planet Of The Apes, Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo, Ambulance, Meet The Deedles, Deadly Revenge and Dayton's Devils among others. His other prime time series credits include Hope And Faith, The Nanny, Lucky Chances, How The West Was Won, Gunsmoke, The Six Milion Dollar Man, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Combat, Perry Mason and Mission Impossible. Eric's theater credits include Kean, which marked the premiere production of the Santa Monica Playhouse and the Broadway production ofThc Great Indoors with Geraldine Page and Curt Jurgens. Eric was Born Hans Gudegast in Kiel, Germany, a port city near the Baltic Sea. He immigrated to the United States in 1959. Eric lived in Texas for scveral years and worked in the University of Texas medical school lab before moving to Los Angeles, where he attended Santa Monica Collegc. He joined a local semi-professional soccer team while launching his acting career. As a young man in 1958, he receivcd the German Youth Team Championship in Discus, Javelin, and Shot put. In 1972-73, Eric played for the Israel based soccer team The Maccabees with whom he won the National Soccer Championship in Los Angeles. In 1989, Braeden was chosen as the only actor on the newly formed German American Advisory Board. Eric twice received the The Federal Medal Of Honor by the President Of Germany for his contribution to German American Relations.
