Oxford University Press (OUP) is a department of the University of Oxford. It furthers the University’s objective of excellence in research, scholarship, and education by publishing worldwide. OUP Pakistan is committed to the spread of knowledge and improvement in the intellectual content of life in Pakistan. OUP’s aim has always been to stimulate critical thinking along with a love for books and reading among the younger generation, and our authors bear this in mind when producing our books. In order to encourage the reading habit, we provide, in addition to textbooks, appealing and challenging reading material for children at every level. Our growing list of supplementary texts includes books in English, Urdu, and the regional languages of Pakistan. OUP strongly believes in the power and benefits of reading and story-telling. It is engaged in helping children embark on a life-long quest of stories, books, and knowledge. The books featured in this catalogue cover a wide range of age groups, subject areas, and genres of writing, including fiction, non-fiction, dictionaries, and reference books. These books will be valuable contributions to school library resources. Libraries help to inculcate the reading habit by providing access to material and resources; they motivate students by extending their learning outside the curriculum, and make pupils life-long learners by developing information skills. The scope of titles, which will appeal to all students, will involve the less able, and challenge the high achievers. NOTE: Prices of all books featured in the catalogue are available on request. It is highly successful because children love the characters and enjoy reading about them; it is easy for teachers to use and is an ideal way to encourage more parental support. Each book in the scheme tells a complete story. Young children can remember a simple story told in natural sounding language even if they cannot read separate words or letters yet. Oxford Reading Tree is divided into stages (Levels 1 to 9). You can easily identify each stage by the colour on its cover. As children progress to each new stage, the number of words and the difficulty of the sentences in the stories gradually increase. Stage 1 teaches important pre-reading skills. Levels 1+ to 5 introduce specific reading skills which are developed as children progress through
