First of all this was the year when the University completed its Diamond Jubilee. Many new initiatives were taken up during the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations. The University Song is one of the immortal traditions established during the year amongst others. The Gurukul Jyoti Award for faculty members and Golden Peacock award and Silver Peacock awards for students are also unique awards instituted by the University. The second reason is that this year the whole academic system of the university was changed to the choice based credit system in semester mode. The intensive planning of the last year resulted in a smooth shifting to the new system I all Post Graduate programs. With this successful transition, planning began for the same change in the under graduate programs also. The third reason was that this year was the penultimate year of my second tenure as a Vice-Chancellor. Through intense efforts the whole campus of the University has undergone a face lift. The changes have not only taken place in the development of roads and gardens but the computer net working capacity has been enhanced to an unbelievable level. The University was even recognized by BSNL as one of the most deserving ones to be given a 1000 mbps connectivity. The introduction of innovative courses has been another reason for this to make a notable year. Areas such as Clinical Research, Food and Nutrition Science, Animation etc. Are some of the fore front areas of knowledge in which new courses have been introduced. This year the University took the initiative to organize a placement fair on mass scale. More than a 1000 students from various programs were offered placement during this fair by major companies. At this stage the Univrsity is well set to reach new heights of achievements in preparation for the re-accreditation, which the University will undergo next year. DR.PARIMAL H.
