He passed away in the early hours of 19 December, 2016 in Delhi – our sincere tribute to the visionary. He was born in Wardha, Maharashtra in 1948. Mishra's engagement with the environment came early - his father Bhawani Prasad Mishra, a Gandhian poet-author and environmentalist, was associated with the Anupam Mishra Gandhi Peace Foundation (GPF) since its inception in 1964. After (1948–2016) completing his Master's in Hindi literature from Delhi University in 1969, Mishra decided to follow in his father's footsteps. He worked at the Gandhi Peace Foundation in New Delhi in varying capacities.
