In the same sequence, construction of this electricity substation in village Nelvad of Narayanpur district of the state is going on at an accelerated pace at the cost of Rs 39 crore, as per Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh's announcement. This village is situated near District Headquarters Narayanpur. Construction of this power substation will also help in attaining the goal of 100% electrification given under Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (Saubhagya) announced by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. Energy Department Officials informed today in capital city Raipur that in Nelwad, construction of a substation of capacity 220/132/33 KV will be completed in next two months by the month of September. This will facilitate quality and uninterrupted supply of electricity in the entire district. Problem of low-voltage will get solved. Officers further informed that Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh has given instructions to complete construction work of this powerful substation by September 2018. As per his instructions, engineers of Chhattisgarh Power Distribution and Transmission Companies and labourers are working day and night in this naxal-affected area to complete the construction work. This power substation of Nelwad will be connected to 220 KV tower line between Barsoor (Dantewada district) and Bhilai (Durg district). After completion of construction work of this power substation, inspection and maintenance of electricity poles and lines will also become easier for the officials. Electricity consumption in Narayanpur district is nearly 10-11 Mega Watt per day. Officials informed that Nelwad substation will facilitate electricity supply to Narayanpur district from separate feeder. Beside, three addition feeders are also being arranged, so that in case electricity supply from one feeder gets interrupted due to unavoidable reasons, additional feeders will be deployed to ensure regular power supply. They told that presently, Narayanpur and Orchha (Abujhmad) blocks are getting electricity supply from substation situated in village Masaura of Kondagaon district. This line crosses a distance of nearly 60 km of forest area. After construction of Nelwad substation, this distance will shrink to 10 km only.
