KATRINA MATHERS 0418 379 963 [email protected] Katrina Mathers has written, produced or directed for organisations such as ABC TV (where she trained and was on staff in the comedy and entertainment departments for many years); Granada Media; MCM Entertainment; Act3 Animation; 9MM Commercials; Immediacy Media and Monash University. A prolific independent filmmaker, her 20+ shorts have won over 50 awards including an AACTA, and have screened at hundreds of film festivals worldwide. She has been a judge and guest speaker for a number of film festivals and conference panels and is often called upon to mentor emerging filmmakers. Katrina’s animations were both Academy® Accredited: NULLARBOR continues to be a best seller on iTunes and was released alongside the 2012 Oscar® nominees theatrically and on iTunes; and she developed and co-directed THE GALLANT CAPTAIN alongside renowned children's author Graeme Base. Katrina co-founded The Lampshade Collective animation and VFX studio in Melbourne and oversaw production on many TVCs, ghosting jobs and shorts. Currently she also runs Cherry Hands Media a production company and consulting service for independent artists and local businesses. Katrina wrote the winning screenplay NO MAIL for the Australian Series II of 'Project Greenlight' and was a Tropfest finalist director with THE REFEREES. She co-wrote a sitcom that was performed by the Queensland Theatre Company called FUNNY BUSINESS as part of a theatrical sitcom festival; and she’s had an original interactive project GIRL MECHANIC TV selected to take part in X|Media|Lab’s development lab. She’s also written countless hours of corporate and branded content. Alognside working in production, Katrina has had a successful career as an actor - having been a regular writer/performer on her own sketch comedy series FLIPSIDE (ABC TV) co-created with Stephen, Bernard and Andrew Curry and others; and she was a main cast writer/performer as well a director for THE WEDGE (Network10) with Rebel Wilson, Adam Zwar, Jason Gann, Kate Jenkinson, Julie Eckersley, Dailan Evans, Marney McQueen and Anthony Ahern. Katrina was a Moosehead Award recipient for the comic stage-play FOOTY CHICKS with Fiona Harris, and she’s appeared in a host of TV productions, independent films and theatre – including playing the Nurse in the original SAW short film; the lead role in Ch7 telemovie ECONOMY CLASS; and lead guest roles in BLUE HEELERS, CITY HOMICIDE, WILFRED and ALL SAINTS. She was also a regular cast member for the weekly ABC Radio 774 drama serial THE BREAKFAST SHIFT with Stig Wemyss, Paul McCarthy and Grant Piro.
