It is a wonderful way to meet new friends while participating in activities that you enjoy. Almost every large metropolitan area has a Newcomers Club, and the Portland metro area is no exception. Activities include: book clubs, walking and hiking groups, Bocce Ball, Maj Jong, bridge, wine tasting, lunch and dinner groups, adventure groups and many other weekly and monthly activities. The activities are for couples and/or singles. Everyone is welcome!! A Monthly Newsletter is sent to all members listing all the activities with date, time and contact information. On the first Thursday of each month there is a Meet & Greet so new members can have the opportunity to learn more. You will have the opportunity to meet some current members and learn more about and sign up for some great activities. She has just given us additional contacts for the other newspapers to ask for free community postings as she does in the LO Review. Here are the new contacts: Dana Haynes is the editor of the Sherwood Gazette. Barb did not give an email address or phone number for him at this time. Distribute brochures to libraries, coffee shops, nail and hair salons, and work out clubs. The board has approved the purchase of plastic brochure holders to use in hair and nail salons, realtor offices, etc. Distribute Newcomers Business Cards to be used by Board members for recruitment of new members. Revise Brochure with a committee of Board members. This has been done as of May 6, 2019. Develop a Social Media Strategy for the purpose of attracting new members using more Internet resources. Attend monthly Board meetings, Meet and Greet Coffees and Luncheons. Be prepared to give an update at meetings. If you are unable to attend a Board meeting, mail, fax, phone, or email your monthly report to the President prior to the monthly meeting. Complete a “Position Report” at the end of your term. Make two copies of completed form and distribute one to the President-Elect and one to your successor to be put into the Publicity position notebook for future reference. Attend Joint Board Meeting (June), review your position’s duties with your successor, and pass all club materials pertaining to your position onto her at this meeting. .
