We will begin selling season tickets on Monday, June 1 st , 2009, and you can start selecting your shows and seats immediately. We are happy to also announce that there are no price increases planned for the upcoming season (See enclosed subscription and single ticket pricing details). Many of you have been asking, and I am extremely excited to finally be able to tell you about the roster of guest artists that we have engaged for our ELEVENTH SEASON . Our new season brochure is being prepared and will hit the mail later this summer. However, you should not wait. Just as in previous years, those individuals that purchase one of our season tickets qualify for a special advanced opportunity to buy tickets to our “Living Legend” Series, this year featuring two iconic singer-songwriters, Don McLean (“Bye, Bye Miss American Pie…”) and Arlo Guthrie (“Alice’s Restaurant”). When you purchase a season ticket you get first chance to buy up to four Don McLean tickets before they are made available to the general public on July 22 nd , 2009 and four Arlo Guthrie tickets before their release to the public on February 19 th , 2010. One of my favorite things to do is to find brand new attractions that have not yet played the Greater Metropolitan market and be the first to bring them to the area. This season is almost entirely made up of new guest artists that have not yet had the privilege to appear on our stage. With the exception of our perennial favorites on our Family Series like the Missoula Children’s Theatre, it’s a season of all new faces. We are honored that you have trusted us in years past, and if you will continue to follow our lead, you’ll not be disappointed...Promise! Our convenient and flexible subscriptions remain unchanged—ten admissions for $150.00 and the Living Legend seats (sold separate from the subscription) are again $35.00 this year. We continue to be able to boast that BPACC is the “Best Entertainment Deal in Town.” We’ve enclosed a Sneak Preview of the 2009-2010 Schedule so that you can make your plans now. In addition to our Legend Series, we continue with our Showcase Series, DinnerStage Series, TheatreStage Series and Family Series. As sort of a special theme running through this season, we are also going to be celebrating “The Piano” at different times throughout the year. From jazz, blues and rock to classical and pops, we have engaged a variety of performers that highlight the diversity of the instrument. The wonderful acoustical intimacy of our concert hall provides the perfect environment to showcase the musical experience. BARTLETT PERFORMING ARTS AND CONFERENCE CENTER 2009-2010 Season LEGEND SERIES August 22, 2009 (8PM )-- Don McLean –For this musical icon, instant international superstardom came with his 1971 release of “American Pie”, an impressionistic ballad inspired by the death of Buddy Holly. The composition was recently named “Song of the Century” and inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, while the renowned singer-songwriter was himself welcomed into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. With his other major hits “And I Love You So,” “Vincent,” and “Crying” he is most certainly admired as an enduring and legendary troubadour. March 20, 2010 (8PM)-- Arlo Guthrie —Everybody’s favorite folk singer and an artist of international stature whose “Alice’s Restaurant Massacre” became the defining anthem for the counter-culture of the 60’s. In addition to his accomplishments as a musician, playing the piano, six and twelve-string guitar, harmonica and a dozen other instruments, he’s a natural-born storyteller, whose tales and anecdotes figure prominently in his performances. SHOWCASE, DINNERSTAGE, THEATRESTAGE and FAMILY SERIES August 29, 2009 (8PM)—Bartlett Summer Symphony Pops featuring a “Symphonic All-Ellington Night.” Under the baton of Dr. Jack Cooper, some of the regions most seasoned orchestral musicians have been assembled for this tribute to one of the most influential figures in jazz, if not all American music. Highlighted by special guests Donald Brown on piano and vocalist Joyce Cobb it’s a night of propulsive swing accented with the street rhythms of Harlem, exotic trombone growls, high-squealing trumpets, and sultry saxophone blues. September 19, 2009 (8PM)—The Freddy Cole Quartet —You’ll hear no apologies for sounding like his brother Nat “King” Cole, yet he emerges from the awesome shadow cast by his elder sibling with a style and musical sophistication all his own. As he works his suave musical magic on the song book of America's greatest composers, you’ll imagine yourself front row in an elegant uptown Manhattan cabaret. October 3, 2009 (8PM)— Chuck Leavell with The Randall Bramblett Trio — Leavell, a member of The Allman Brothers Band during the height of their popularity, keyboardist for Eric Clapton, and often referred to as the "sixth" Rolling Stone, is one of the most sought after rock pianists in history. Joining Leavell for the Bartlett performance is big- league sax player Randall Bramblett who may not be a household name but is legendary in music circles. Just ask Steve Winwood or Bonnie Raitt. October 9-10, 2009 -- “PIANOFORTE,” a two-day, three-concert Piano Festival featuring (1) a jazz dinner show, (2) a free multi-artist classical showcase, and (3) a dazzling rising star on the classical/pop charts. Friday night’s DinnerStage (7PM) features Jazz/ R&B pianist Marvell Thomas ; Saturday’s free matinee (2:30PM) showcases local concert artists Maeve, Owen and Linnea Brophy, Andrew Drannon , and several other regional standouts; and the Festival Finale (8PM) features William Joseph , Yamaha Artist and protégé of famed music producer David Foster. Between Kevin's pop and R&B roots and Bethany's flawlessly pure, soulful voice, there isn't much musical territory that they can't travel.
