The Proms marks the occasion with a concert from one of some of Bach's most moving music. Trumpeters Max Kaminsky (1908-1994) and Muggsy Spanier the UK's leading new music ensembles, the Birmingham (1901-1967) were brassmen of the old school, laying down a Contemporary Music Group. A starry line-up of soloists is led by Mark Padmore's Evangelist hot Dixieland lead with the likes of Eddie Condon and Sidney and German baritone Christian Gerhaher singing the words of Bechet.
