Clinton Campaign Announces Hillary for Florida Leadership Council Hillary for America announced the launch of its “Florida Leadership Council”– a group of over 150 elected officials, community, coalition and grassroots leaders who will help build a grassroots-driven volunteer team that will help Hillary to win the Florida Primary on March 15th. Clinton’s Florida campaign will be led by Senator Bill Nelson, former US Senator Bob Graham, nearly every Democratic member of Congress, over two-thirds of State House Democrats, and the mayors of some of the state’s largest cities including Tampa and Orlando. Leadership Council members share Clinton’s commitment to raising wages for the middle class instead of their taxes, defending and enhancing the Affordable Care Act, her plan to reduce prescription drug costs, her passion for reforming the criminal justice system and her belief that cost should never be a barrier for students going to college and much more. "I have known Hillary for decades, dating back to her time with the Children’s Defense Fund,” said Congressman Alcee Hastings of Ft. Lauderdale. “In this capacity, I came to know her as a smart and driven advocate, whose thoughtfulness and deliberation helped to advance justice and the rule of law in a time when African Americans and women struggled daily to attain the freedom and equality enshrined in our constitution. Hillary’s commitment to these principles has never wavered, and I can say unequivocally that she is the right choice for this nation." "When it comes to Florida’s cities, and the challenges they face, Hillary Clinton is the best candidate equipped to tackle and move them forward,” said Mayor Philip Levine of Miami Beach. “Clinton gets it, and will make a fundamental difference for every city in America." “As a young mother who attended community college and worked hard to make ends meet, I know Hillary Clinton will fight to ensure that every mother has access to quality healthcare, that every student’s dream of an education come true and that we are all treated equally with dignity and respect,” said Representative Janet Cruz of Tampa, Incoming House Democratic Leader. “I am pleased to lend my support to Hillary Clinton,” said House Democratic Leader Pro Tempore Mia Jones of Jacksonville, FL “For years, as a First Lady, Senator and Secretary of State, Hillary has championed the cause of both women's and human rights issues. As president, Hillary will continue to move our country forward. It will be my pleasure to secure Florida for Clinton.” Over the course of the campaign, the Florida Leadership Council will continue to expand.
