If you can believe their accounts, Bruce Springsteen was a total failure until the day he was a success. More recently, Nathaniel Rateliff was about to throw in the towel before recording his R&B record “S.O.B.” Which brings me to Maggie Rose, a Nashville-based singer-songwriter who has been performing for more than a decade as a rising coun- try artist and has appeared on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry more than 80 times. When you listen to her, you hear the voice of an expe- rienced professional, someone who is at home on a stage and in front of a microphone, whose voice has great power.
