November 1831 Alcock Death On the 15th ult., in George Town, Demerara, after a short illness, aged 20 years, John, second son of Mr Kendal Mercury 25 January Joseph Alcock, joiner and cabinet maker, of Langwathby—much respected. 1862 Alder Death At Demerara, on the 29th December, on board the barque Aurora, of this port, of which vessel he was Newcastle Journal 3 February master, aged 30, Captain William Launcelot Alder, a native of this town. The deceased had traded to 1863 Demerara for a considerable period, during which time he had won the respect and esteem of all with whom he came into contact. His death was sudden and unexpected, having only a few minutes previously been engaged in superintending the loading of his vessel. Macdonald and Company have just completed in the best Rubislaw granite a neat monumental Aberdeen Weekly Journal 23 cross, of the Celtic type, all finely axed, with elaborately-carved ornament on face, to the memory of George August 1898 Hamilton Alexander, captain, 4th Battalion East Surrey Regiment, second son of Mr Arthur Harvey Alexander, immigration agent of British Guiana, and of Hazelwood, Dufftown, Scotland, who died at Ogbomosho, on the 18th October, 1897, whilst serving with the Hous-- Force, aged 23 years. The memorial is to be erected at Captain Alexander's grave on the W Coast of Africa.
