If you ordered a refrigerator, it will be delivered to your room. • Meet the computing techs and go to a computing session in Linsly-Chittenden Hall on the Old Campus • Pick up a bagged lunch ($10) on Cross Campus. • Go to your residential college open house at 4 p.m. • Dinner is on your own with your families or roommates. For other meals, you can find a list of dining specials for students at http://www.infonewhaven.com/dining/. • Meet with your dean at 8 pm and your counselor at 9 pm at your residential college. Where do I get my key and identification card? For students living on the Old Campus, go to the table set up outside of Dwight Hall which is opposite Phelps Gate on the Old Campus. If it’s raining, go inside Dwight Hall Chapel. Keys and IDs are distributed from 9 am to 5 pm. If you arrive after 5 pm, go to the Law School security desk, located at 127 Wall Street. Students living in Timothy Dwight, Benjamin Franklin, Pauli Murray or Silliman should go to their college courtyard for their ID card and bedroom key. I’m on the FOOT or Harvest program and I won’t get back till late morning on Friday. Can my parents pick up my key and id card for me and move my stuff into my room? Yes, your parents should be prepared to show their id to receive your room key and id card. My student is on the FOOT or Harvest program. Where do I meet them? When the students return they will come through Phelps Gate on the Old Campus and drop off their supplies in the Battell/Farnam area of Old Campus. Where do I park? Free parking is available from 9 a.m. on Friday, August 23, to 8 a.m. on Monday, August 26 Lots 16 and the Pierson-Sage Garage, both located at 230 Whitney Avenue, will open at 9 a.m. The blue shuttle bus will make the round trip continuously from Lots 16 and Pierson-Sage to Benjamin Franklin College and Pauli Murray College area, to Timothy Dwight College and Silliman College area and to the Old Campus, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, August 23. Yale Transit operates a Special Services Van which transports members of the Yale community who are permanently or temporarily disabled. Usually, families will say their goodbyes at 2 pm on Saturday only to return October 4-6 for Family Weekend. Where do I go if I have a question about financial aid and student employment? Students and family may make payments and get information about monthly accounts, financial aid, loans and other billing matters from Student Financial Services, located on the first floor of 246 Church Street on Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and on Saturday from 8:30 am to 2 pm. I never sent in my vaccination/immunization forms in. What do I do with them? As soon as you receive the vaccination, please scan and email your documentation to [email protected] or bring your documentation to the Yale Health Center, at 55 Lock Street, 4th floor, I never mailed my student bond form in. What do I do with it? Bring it to Student Financial Services at 246 Church Street. Where are the nearest restrooms located? On the Old Campus there are accessible restrooms in Linsly-Chittenden Hall, Connecticut Hall and Battell Chapel. TD, BF, MY, SM, all have accessible restrooms for guests. For residents on the Old Campus go to the tent in front of Durfee Hall inside the Old Campus for physical plant, electrical and custodial issues. The tent will be staffed from 8 am to 5 pm on Friday and Saturday. At all other times over the weekend, call the Control Center at 432-6888. Staff from Physical Plant will have bags of tools on hand (hammers, screw drivers, etc.) to lend for simple tasks. After Saturday, contact Facilities at 203-432-6888. The student receiving center is open from 10AM to 4PM Monday-Friday and will be open for orientation on Friday and Saturday, August 23-24 from 10-4 pm. They are closed on Sunday, August 25. You will receive an email when your UPS, DHL, or Fed Ex package is scanned at the Yale Student Receiving Center. Due to limited space, please pick up your package(s) within 24 hours after you arrive to campus. Unclaimed packages will be returned to sender. Where can I sign up for a US post office box? On Saturday, a complimentary lunch for first-years and their families will be served in the residential college and a picnic supper will be held for first-years in the residential college. All students are assigned by default to the full meal plan. From August 16-September 6 new students may opt for the anytime meal plan instead of the full meal plan. You will receive registration information from your residential college dean on Friday at 8 pm in your residential college dining hall. When will I receive the Yale College Programs of Study (Blue Book)? The Blue Book is available on line. Is attendance required for all first-year events? First-years are expected to attend events described as mandatory/required in the Yale Connect calendar of events. including the Friday registration meetings from 8 to 9 pm, and the Yale College Assembly on Saturday in Woolsey Hall. First-years are expected to wear appropriate attire (business casual) to the Yale College Assembly. The President’s Reception immediately follows the Yale College Assembly, held on Cross Campus. If it is a hot and humid day, men’s jackets are not required.
