GENESISTHE ALUMNI MAGAZINE OF SAINT IGNATIUS COLLEGE PREPAR ATORY, SF, SUMMERV 2010 genesis v 1 JUSTICE SANDRA DAY O’CONNOR COMMEMORATES 20 YEARS OF COEDUCATION The day after SI’s varsity baseball team beat SHC 3–2 at AT&T Park April 20, members of the Block Club drove to Sacred Heart to pick up the Bruce-Mahoney Trophy and return it to SI. The two schools first played in 1893, establishing the oldest high school rivalry west of the Rocky Mountains. The Bruce-Mahoney trophy game dates back to 1946 and commemorates those from both schools who lost their lives in WWII.
