Please see additional Important Safety Information on the following pages and accompanying full Product Information including Boxed Warning and Medication Guide on page 13. 2 About blepharospasm About blepharospasm Blepharospasm is characterized by involuntary spasms of the muscles around the eye, resulting in uncontrolled blinking, narrowing, and even closing of the eyelid.1 The signs of blepharospasm In the early stages of blepharospasm, you may feel irritation and discomfort of the eyelids as well as increased blinking.1 Possible early symptoms: • Dry eyes1 or watering eyes2 • Light sensitivity3 • Increased blinking1 • Ocular pain2 • Soreness around the eyes2 It is unknown what exactly causes the muscle contractions characteristic of blepharospasm.1 How it’s diagnosed Specialists like neurologists and ophthalmologists diagnose blepharospasm based on specific signs and symptoms.2 3 INDICATION BOTOX® is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to treat abnormal spasm of the eyelids (blepharospasm) in people 12 years and older. Tell your doctor about all your muscle or nerve conditions such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease), myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome, as you may be at increased risk of serious side effects including severe dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) and respiratory compromise (difficulty breathing) from typical doses of BOTOX®. This helps reduce eye muscle spasms.4 See results as soon as 3 days When you treat blepharospasm with BOTOX® therapy, you may begin seeing an improvement in your symptoms within the first 3 days, with maximum results about 1 to 2 weeks after your injection.4 Treatment once every 3 months T here is no daily treatment required with BOTOX®.4 Your specialist will administer BOTOX® treatments by injecting the medicine directly into your affected muscles.4 You can get treated again by your specialist after the effect of the previous injection has worn off, but no sooner than every 3 months.4 IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION (Continued) Cornea problems have been reported.
