Position – Assessment team member, Macalister-Elliot & Partners Assessment of the lobster trap-fishery against the MSC Principles for responsible fishing. Also reviewed MSC assessment of Normandy and Jersey lobster (Homarus gammarus) fishery. Approx. USD 3000 SWIOFP Observer Training Course (2010): Consultancy. Position - Project leader Developed a successful international tender to present a large multidisciplinary Fisheries Observer Training Course. Tender award was based on quality and cost. Forty trainees from 8 countries completed the course at ORI, over a period of 3.5 weeks. Lectures and notes in 3 languages; 10 lecturers used. Training manual of 153 pages developed and printed (see www.swiofp.net). Approx. USD 200 000. Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) pre-assessments of artisanal spiny lobster fishery off Kenya and octopus fishery off Tanzania (2009): Consultancy. Position – Assessment team member, Moody Marine Ltd Pre-assessments of two artisanal fisheries along the coasts of Kenya and Tanzania, respectively. Approx. USD 5000 Regional Component Coordinator for Component 2 (Crustacean projects) for the South West Indian Ocean Fisheries Project (2008 – 2013): Position – Component Coordinator. Coordination of surveys at sea and research projects on offshore crustacean resources (spiny lobsters, prawns, langoustines, crabs) conducted by the South West Indian Ocean Fisheries Project in the EEZs of South Africa, Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, and Madagascar. Project duration is from 2008 to 2013.
