LEFTOVER SALMON BRINGS ITS ECLECTIC SOUND TO MISSOULA MISSOULA-- The polyethnic Cajun slamgrass sounds of Leftover Salmon will return to Missoula when the Boulder, Colo.-based quintet performs Saturday, Jan. 22, at The University of Montana. The show begins at 8 p.m. in the University Theatre. Over the last decade, Leftover Salmon has earned an enthusiastic following of fans with its fresh hybrid of bluegrass-based Americana, country, Cajun, Southern rock ‘n’ boogie and assorted ethnic influences. The band self-released its first album, “Bridges to Bert,” in 1992, followed by “Ask the Fish” in 1995. “Euphoria” marked Leftover Salmon’s 1997 debut on Hollywood Records. The band’s most recent album, “The Nashville Sessions” (Hollywood Records 1999), features guest appearances by the likes of Bela Fleck, Waylon Jennings, Taj Mahal and Lucinda Williams. Leftover Salmon’s hot banjo, mandolin and guitar licks, rollicking vocals and ample comic relief have entertained audiences from the Telluride Bluegrass Festival to The Fillmore San Francisco.
