WEATHERLY (1848-1929) JACK CASSIDY, TENOR, is a 2020 graduate of St. John’s University, where he studied under Dr. Patricia Kent. While at St. John’s, Jack was cast in two opera workshops: Meanwhile, back at Cinderella’s, cast as Prince Dimmly, and Sondheim: A Musical Revue, and cast in the musical Next to Normal as Dan. As a chorister he was a member of the St. John’s University Men’s Chorus under the direction of Dr. Axel Theimer. Jack also participated in piano, guitar, voice lessons, Johnnie Blend - the Men’s A Capella group, and sang at Student and Sunday morning Masses. During the Fall semester of his junior year he had the opportunity to study abroad in Salzburg, Austria. The following Summer, Jack returned to Europe with the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John’s University Choral Arts Ensemble where they performed in Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic. Jack has a love for Art Song, Opera, Folk, and has developed an interest in composition/songwriting; he has arranged several songs for his A Capella group. In addition to his music endeavors Jack enjoyed taking on a variety of student roles such as a student senator, or as a tour guide for prospective students. Having a musical family, Jack grew up surrounded by singing. Whether it was at home, in musicals during high school, or singing at church, he had the opportunity to listen and explore the music around him. With a Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Performance, Jack will be a member of the Benedictine Volunteer Corps, where he will be spending a year in Montserrat, Spain. He hopes to make a difference in the lives of the young students at Montserrat, spreading his passion for music. THANK YOU FOR JOINING US FOR THIS SOIRÉE MUSICALE EVENT!
