The partnership Framework for Research and Innovation in MediaCityUK (FIRM) has secured funding of £2.72 million as the first step in its £40 million programme to complement the physical development with an intellectual infrastructure. The University of Salford has won a funding bid of £8 million from the Higher Education Funding Council for England for its four-storey MediaCityUK based facility, which is set to open in September 2011.
